ASMR: Helping People Relax Worldwide

Many people do not know about the world of ASMR. ASMR is the abbreviation for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It can be triggered by certain sounds, feelings, or other sensory responses, such as light. These actions, called triggers, such as typing on a keyboard, a soothing voice, or other pleasing sounds, are said to increase relaxation and stimulate the brain in a positive manner. In the same sense that your mother's singing calmed you to sleep, ASMR works in the same sort of way. The sensation usually starts in the scalp and travels throughout the body and relaxes all of the senses. ASMR has been known to help people sleep soundly at night, as well as feel more relaxed before upcoming due dates and events that might otherwise stress them out.

The most popular outlet for ASMRtists, as they are called, is YouTube. On YouTube, one can find videos explaining the sensation, as well as videos that personally expose you to the feeling. Some of YouTube's most popular ASMRtists include GentleWhispering, an experienced Russian woman called Maria, and ASMRRequests, a lady named Ally, and many others. Simply by looking up 'ASMR' in the search bar, you can be exposed to relaxation that has become a phenomenon.

However, not everyone can experience ASMR. What is relaxing for one person may have absolutely no effect on another. Many people have claimed to have felt the sensation of ASMR since they were children, and others claim that they have never once felt any such thing. All that is truly known is that this form of mental relaxation has taken the world by storm. It has become more popular and people are becoming more accustomed to the idea. Who knows, if you give it a try, you might just be able to see what everyone is speaking of when they talk about the odd sensation of ASMR.
