Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the Marshall Football
plane crash. On each anniversary of the crash, there is a ceremony at the
fountain, and it also includes the laying of the wreath. The beautiful
fountain that stands in the middle of the Marshall campus was created by sculptor
Harry Bertoia. People gather around the fountain multiple times throughout the
year to admire the creation and take time to honor the ones who lost their
lives in the crash. The fountain is turned off until the following
spring.
